My New Home / Workplace

These are some pictures of our apartment and the grounds -- however, this is now, not then (when we arrived in the winter and it was too cold to even take pictures). The only attempt I took before it warmed up was to take pictures of the many, many geese that were in the pond. As you can see, that didn't work too well. Those geese were way too friendly -- I was backing away from them as I tried to take pictures. Didn't work too well. Where we live is called "The Mansions," you can see the Mansion (that's really the office, but is very lovely), as are the grounds. Our apartment is the one in the picture. We're only .7 of a mile from where we work every day, so it is really nice. I put on a couple of pictures of our work place. The other sisters are my companion, Sister Ann Marshall, Sister Lynn Williams and Sister Lavonna Zurlinger. We enjoy each others company and working together.

Leaving the MTC

We left Provo on Friday, January 29 at 7:30 a.m. I drove my car which was packed to the brim. Actually, we really needed to also be pulling a trailer, but I'm glad we weren't. The day was nice, although we had some fog going up through the Park City area. We arrived in Denver around 5 p.m. We had lunch at Applebee's and it was a nice trip. We left Denver Saturday 6:30 a.m. and arrived in Independence around 4:15 (central time). We didn't waste any time and weather was perfect. We hurried so that we could pick up the key to our apartment, although we didn't actually move in for a couple of more days. We were pleased with our apartment and the surroundings. I would have more pictures, but it was freeeezing cold and I had no desire to be out in it any more than needed. Now, I wish I had braved the cold and taken some pictures. Oh well, there will be next winter to take pictures.

My MTC Experience

I'm actually going to try this blogging thing to keep a record of my mission -- actually already one-quarter over. We (my companion, Ann Marshall (high school friend)) and I went into the MTC on January 18, 2010. We settled into our little apartment just in time for lunch at the cafeteria. It was the beginning of three square meals a day -- and never passing up dessert. It was great and I really enjoyed it -- at the expense of a few pounds, I'm sure.

Since our calling for this mission was for "Family History Records Preservation," we were sure we would be safe from any of the "teaching assignments." WRONG!! We had teaching assignments on Tues., Wed., Thurs. and Friday. We were totally outside our comfort zone, but loved every minute of the experience. The training we received and the devotionals that we went to were a wonderful and very spiritual experience. The second week we went to Orem for training on the scanner and computer programs that we would be using.
